A private SVG minifier and optimizer

Compress SVG file sizes by removing editor metadata, comments and unnecessary whitespace, and rounding numeric values and path coordinates. SVG stays a vector format: it is not converted into a bitmap. This conservative SVG optimizer retains the viewBox, IDs, accessibility labels, styles and animation references. Lower precision can slightly alter fine details; inspect the downloaded SVG before replacing your original.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compress an SVG file?

Choose or drop an SVG, select numeric precision and click Compress SVG. Compare the original and compressed sizes, then download the optimized file.

What does the SVG minifier remove?

It removes comments, editor metadata, XML declarations and unnecessary whitespace. It also simplifies path data and rounds numeric precision. It does not aggressively delete IDs or graphical elements.

Will SVG optimization change image quality?

SVG remains scalable, but coordinate rounding can change tiny details. Three decimal places is the default; use higher precision for delicate artwork and inspect the output.

Are styles, animation and accessibility preserved?

This optimizer retains CSS, animation elements, IDs, title and description text, accessibility attributes and the viewBox. Always test complex artwork in the context where you will use it.

Why is my SVG not smaller?

An already optimized SVG may have little redundant code. If optimization would increase the size, SnugPDF keeps the original file instead. Embedded raster images are not recompressed.

Does the SVG file leave my device?

No. The SVG is read and optimized locally in your browser. Files with DTDs, entities or active content are rejected; the tool does not execute or preview uploaded SVG code.
