Can every PDF be compressed to 1 MB?
Most PDFs with images or scans compress to 1 MB easily. A long, text-heavy or very high-resolution document may not reach 1 MB while staying readable — in that case SnugPDF shows you the smallest size it could achieve so you can still download it.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. All compression runs locally in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device, which makes the tool safe for contracts, medical records and other sensitive documents.
Will the compressed PDF still look good?
SnugPDF first tries lossless optimization, which keeps the original quality. If that isn't enough to reach 1 MB, pages are re-rendered at a lower resolution — text stays readable, but it can no longer be selected or searched.
